Memorial Day thru Labor Day:
Every Monday @ 2:15pm
Every Wednesday @ 2:15pm
Wild Wednesday Training Demonstrations
Every Saturday @ 10:15am
Critter Encounter: These presentations are designed to teach zoo visitors about the animals that reside at the Pine Grove Zoo with an up close look at some of the species and animal artifacts. Come and learn from a zookeeper about the animals and their care in captivity and get a chance to meet some of them!
Wild Wednesday Training Demonstrations: By getting the animal to participate in its own health care, we can drastically reduce stress when performing routine health care, as well as help stimulate them mentally. Trainers can also use training to encourage normal behavior such as pouncing and leaping while eliminating stereotypical behaviors. With the use of operant conditioning, trainers can help keep the animal in shape by getting them up and moving.
C.H.O.M.P.: Carnivore, herbivore, or omnivore meal presentations are designed to teach zoo visitors about the dietary needs of the animals here at the zoo. Learn from a zookeeper what each species needs to eat to stay healthy and even get a firsthand look at the animal eating their meal! Also get a chance to see animal artifacts and learn how the zookeepers enrich the animals’ daily lives and watch the animals enjoy their enrichment.
