Friends of Pine Grove Zoo would like to share

Our Mission

To promote environmental education
and conservation while creating
a progressive zoological park
in central Minnesota

Our Vision

To have families and individuals
Live their lives with passionate respect
For the entire realm of the natural world.

Beginning Mid-April and going to Mid-October the Zoo will be open to the public for the 2009 season with an admission charge of $5.00. Children 3 years and under are free.

Pine Grove Zoo, located in Little Falls, is nestled among one of the last standing grove of white pines in Minnesota. Meander down paved paths and view a variety of exotic, native and domestic animals at home in their spacious, natural habitats. Interactive signs and a petting stable provide educational encounters that will enhance your zoo visit and create long lasting memories. The Zoo also offers serene walking trails as well as large picnic and playground areas. To compliment your zoo experience, a historic log cabin can be reserved for all your special occasions.

Be sure to visit the Pine Grove Zoo in Minnesota this year. The animals would love to see you!

Packed With Fun!
New Bear Cubs Coming
For 2009 Season

You loved them last season! They brought the new Bear Exhibit to life. Bear Country, USA, once again will be sending baby bear cubs to Pine Grove Zoo. The new bear cubs will be welcomed by “Jerry" & "Garrison”, the two male bear cubs from last year. They are already up for the year and causing trouble. The Bear Exhibit will be full this year because we also have our original bears, "Teddy” and “Yogi”. They, too, had a short hibernation and are out in the exhibit already. The 2009 Season starts in mid-April. Don’t miss out on all the fun that these bear cubs can provide.

New Animals Join Pine Grove Zoo Family

“Merry” is an 11 month old Cougar kitten. Merry was a wild caught orphaned kitten from Jackson, Wyoming. She was transferred to Pine Grove Zoo through the Chahinkapa Zoo in Wapheton, ND.

“Naughty”and “Nice” are two Bobcat kittens that arrived at Pine Grove Zoo this past Fall. They came from Washington Park Zoo, Michigan City, IN. “Naughty” and “Nice” are male siblings that are a year old.

“Karl” is a Sulcata Tortoise, 4 years old. A Sulcata Tortoise is the world’s third largest land tortoise. “Karl” was donated by Milo Anderson, a Zoo member from Elk River, MN. There will be a new tortoise exhibit this year located by the Bison Lookout.

Adding to the beauty of the Zoo will be Seven Pea Fowls better known as Peacocks. The Peacocks vary in genders and one is pure white. They were donated by Pete, June and Tom Brutscher. Watch for them roaming around the zoo!

New at Zoo in 2009

Interactive Native American Signs by each North American animal. Donated by Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwa. Each sign gives the Native American name for the animal.

Petting Stable with a full compliment of baby animals and our resident donkeys, “Rosie” and “Xote”. The Bear Necessities Gift Shop featuring many new items.

The wolves will be moved to a new location and work will begin on their exhibit to meet AZA Standards. The Zoo is preparing to apply for AZA (Association of Zoos and Aquariums) accreditation.

Lunch Wagon is New
At the Zoo

Don’t let hunger interrupt your visit to our zoo. We will have a great selection of food at the new lunch wagon that will be at Pine Grove Zoo. The lunch wagon will be open every day from 11AM to 3PM. Lunches for school tours that pre-order are also available. If you need information on this, call 320-616-5595.

Reciprocity List
For Discounts at Other Zoos
Now Available

If you are a member of Pine Grove Zoo you will now be able to use your membership card in a new way. Zoos around the country were asked to offer reciprocity to members of Pine Grove Zoo and their members in turn will receive the same discount to our Zoo. The response was outstanding! Check out the new section entitled Zoo Reciprocity List. Any time you travel you should check the list as it will continue to be updated throughout the year. To use your membership card at other zoos for the discount, it must be accompanied by a picture ID.
